The NEET 2024 counselling process has been postponed indefinitely due to the Supreme Court’s rejection of a plea to delay the scheduled start of counselling on 6th July.
The NEET 2024 examination was conducted on May 5 by the NTA for admissions in MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and related courses, has faced legal challenges in the Supreme Court due to certain irregularities. The Supreme Court, led by CJI CY Chandrachud along with Hon’ble Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, is scheduled to hear the NEET pleas on 8th July.
The NTA conducted a re-examination on June 26 for 1,563 students who were originally awarded grace marks due to ‘loss of time’ in the previous NEET-UG exam. Subsequently, the Supreme Court decided to cancel these grace marks after petitions were filed against it. Following this decision, only 813 out of the 1,563 students appeared for the re-examination, while the others opted to stick with their original NEET-UG scores, excluding the grace marks.
